Day 1: Entebbe – Lake Mburo National Park
· Your Ugandan adventure begins with a warm welcome from Breath of Savanna Safaris. You will be picked up from Entebbe International Airport (before 2:00 PM) or from your hotel in Entebbe/Kampala by your professional, English-speaking safari driver-guide.
· After a short briefing, we will set off towards Lake Mburo National Park, enjoying the changing scenery as we travel from the bustling urban areas into the beautiful countryside of western Uganda.
· Lake Mburo is one of Uganda’s most scenic savannah parks and a wonderful introduction to the country’s wildlife. Although it is one of Uganda’s smaller national parks, it is rich in biodiversity and is particularly known for its zebras, impalas, elands, buffaloes, giraffes, waterbucks and hippos. The park also offers excellent birdwatching, with hundreds of bird species recorded, while lucky visitors may even encounter the elusive leopard.
· Upon arrival, we will proceed to your lodge or camp for check-in and some time to relax. Depending on your arrival time and road conditions, we may head out for a late-afternoon game drive, giving you your first opportunity to explore the park and spot wildlife as the savannah comes alive in the cooler evening hours.
· If time does not allow for an evening game drive, you will enjoy a relaxed evening at your accommodation, surrounded by the peaceful atmosphere of the Ugandan wilderness.
· Dinner and Overnight at your preferred Lodge/Camp on Full Board Basis.
Day 2: Lake Mburo – Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park
· Wake up early and enjoy breakfast at your lodge before setting out for an exciting morning game drive through Lake Mburo National Park. The early hours are among the best times to explore the savannah, as wildlife is active and the temperatures are cooler.
· Keep your eyes open for some of the park’s highlights, including the impressive eland antelope, large herds of zebra, topi, impala, buffalo, waterbuck and other savannah wildlife. Your experienced safari guide will help you spot and identify the different animals while sharing fascinating insights about the park and its ecosystem.
· Alternatively, for a more intimate experience in the wilderness, you may opt for a guided nature/bush walk accompanied by an armed park ranger, available at an additional cost of USD 25 per person. This is a wonderful opportunity to explore the smaller details of the ecosystem on foot, including tracks, plants, insects and birdlife.
· After the morning activity, return to your accommodation for some time to freshen up before checking out. We will then begin our scenic journey towards Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, travelling through the beautiful landscapes and rolling hills of southwestern Uganda.
· Bwindi is renowned worldwide for its mountain gorillas and is home to a significant portion of the world’s remaining population. The forest provides a natural sanctuary for several habituated gorilla families that visitors can trek with the guidance of experienced trackers and park rangers.
· After the journey, check in at your lodge/camp and settle in for a well-deserved evening of relaxation. With the unforgettable gorilla trekking experience scheduled for the following morning, tonight is the perfect time to rest, enjoy your surroundings and prepare for one of the most extraordinary wildlife encounters in Africa.
· Dinner and Overnight at your preferred Lodge/Camp on Full Board Basis.
Day 3: Gorilla Trekking In Bwindi – Transfer To Lake Bunyonyi
· Today is the highlight of your Uganda safari—an unforgettable encounter with the magnificent mountain gorillas of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
· After an early breakfast, prepare your packed lunch and meet your safari driver-guide for the transfer to the park’s ranger station. Here, you will receive a detailed briefing from the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) team on the gorilla trekking guidelines, safety precautions and responsible behaviour while in the forest. You will also be assigned to a gorilla trekking group.
· The trek begins at approximately 8:00 AM, accompanied by experienced park ranger-guides and fellow trekkers. The journey through Bwindi’s ancient rainforest can be physically demanding, with steep slopes, dense vegetation and, depending on the conditions, muddy and slippery trails. However, every step is rewarded by the anticipation of finding one of the forest’s remarkable gorilla families.
· The duration of the trek is unpredictable and can take approximately 3 to 8 hours or more, depending on the location and movements of the gorillas. Once your assigned gorilla family is located, you will have up to one hour to quietly observe these incredible primates in their natural habitat. Watching them interact, feed, groom and care for one another at such close range is a truly extraordinary experience that you will remember for a lifetime.
· After completing your trek, return to the ranger station where you will receive your gorilla trekking certificate, a special keepsake commemorating this remarkable wildlife encounter.
· You will then rejoin your safari vehicle and continue to Lake Bunyonyi, one of Uganda’s most beautiful highland destinations. Surrounded by lush, terraced hillsides rising to approximately 2,200–2,478 metres above sea level, the lake is renowned for its tranquil waters and 29 picturesque islands, each with its own shape, character and story.
· Arrive at your accommodation, check in and unwind as you take in the spectacular scenery and peaceful atmosphere of Lake Bunyonyi.
· Dinner and Overnight at your preferred Lodge/Camp on Full Board Basis.
Day 4: Lake Bunyonyi – Entebbe
· Enjoy a leisurely breakfast at your lodge/camp while taking in the breathtaking views across the tranquil waters of Lake Bunyonyi, with its lush green hills and beautiful islands creating the perfect setting for your final morning in southwestern Uganda.
· If your international flight is scheduled for later in the evening, you may choose to make the most of your time at Lake Bunyonyi with an optional canoe excursion at an additional cost. Paddle gently across the calm waters, admire the surrounding terraced hills and islands, and experience the peaceful beauty of one of Uganda’s most scenic lakes before beginning your journey back to Entebbe.
· After breakfast and any optional activity, check out and meet your safari driver-guide for the scenic drive back to Entebbe. The journey offers a final opportunity to enjoy Uganda’s beautiful countryside as you make your way towards the airport.
· Depending on your flight schedule and road conditions, you will arrive in Entebbe in the late afternoon or evening, allowing sufficient time for your onward flight.
· As your Ugandan adventure comes to an end, we sincerely thank you for choosing Breath of Savanna Safaris. We hope you leave Uganda with unforgettable memories of its incredible wildlife, breathtaking landscapes and, most importantly, your extraordinary encounter with the mountain gorillas.
· Drop off at your booked hotel in Entebbe or Entebbe International Airport for your flight back home. (3 hours prior check-in is required.)
