Day 1: Entebbe– Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park
· Your Uganda gorilla adventure begins with your arrival at Entebbe International Airport, ideally on an early morning flight arriving no later than 10:00 AM. Upon arrival, you will be warmly welcomed by your professional, English-speaking Breath of Savanna Safaris driver-guide, who will assist you with your luggage, give you a short safari briefing, and introduce you to the journey ahead.
· We will then set off southwest towards Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, travelling through Uganda’s beautiful countryside. Along the way, we will make a stop at the Equator, offering a great opportunity to stretch your legs, take photographs, and experience this iconic geographical landmark.
· Continue to Mbarara City, where you will enjoy lunch before proceeding towards the dramatic landscapes of southwestern Uganda. As we travel deeper into the region, the scenery transforms into rolling hills, green valleys, and winding roads, making the journey itself part of the Ugandan experience.
· Our destination is Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, one of Africa’s most remarkable rainforest destinations and home to a significant population of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas. The forest provides a protected habitat for numerous habituated gorilla families that can be visited during guided trekking experiences.
· Upon arrival in Bwindi, check in at your accommodation and enjoy a relaxing evening. After the long journey, the rest of the day is intentionally kept at leisure so you can rest and prepare for the unforgettable gorilla trekking experience awaiting you the following morning.
· Dinner and Overnight at your preferred Lodge/Camp on Full Board Basis.
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking In Bwindi – Transfer To Lake Bunyonyi
· Today is the highlight of your Uganda safari—an unforgettable encounter with the magnificent mountain gorillas of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
· After an early breakfast, prepare your packed lunch and meet your safari driver-guide for the transfer to the park’s ranger station. Here, you will receive a detailed briefing from the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) team on gorilla trekking guidelines, safety precautions, and responsible behaviour while in the forest. You will also be assigned to a gorilla trekking group.
· The trek begins at approximately 8:00 AM, accompanied by experienced park ranger-guides and fellow trekkers. The journey through Bwindi’s ancient rainforest can be physically demanding, with steep slopes, dense vegetation and, depending on the conditions, muddy and slippery trails. However, every step is rewarded by the anticipation of finding one of the forest’s remarkable gorilla families.
· The duration of the trek is unpredictable and can take approximately 3 to 8 hours or more, depending on the location and movements of the gorillas. Once your assigned gorilla family is located, you will have up to one hour to quietly observe these incredible primates in their natural habitat. Watching them interact, feed, groom and care for one another at such close range is a truly extraordinary experience that you will remember for a lifetime.
· After completing your trek, return to the ranger station where you will receive your gorilla trekking certificate, a special keepsake commemorating this remarkable wildlife encounter.
· You will then rejoin your safari vehicle and continue to Lake Bunyonyi, one of Uganda’s most beautiful highland destinations. Surrounded by lush, terraced hillsides rising to approximately 2,200–2,478 metres above sea level, the lake is renowned for its tranquil waters and 29 picturesque islands, each with its own shape, character and story.
· Arrive at your accommodation, check in and unwind as you take in the spectacular scenery and peaceful atmosphere of Lake Bunyonyi.
· Dinner and Overnight at your preferred Lodge/Camp on Full Board Basis.
Day 3: Lake Bunyonyi – Entebbe
· Enjoy a leisurely breakfast at your lodge/camp while taking in the breathtaking views across the tranquil waters of Lake Bunyonyi, with its lush green hills and beautiful islands creating the perfect setting for your final morning in southwestern Uganda.
· If your international flight is scheduled for later in the evening, you may choose to make the most of your time at Lake Bunyonyi with an optional canoe excursion at an additional cost. Paddle gently across the calm waters, admire the surrounding terraced hills and islands, and experience the peaceful beauty of one of Uganda’s most scenic lakes before beginning your journey back to Entebbe.
· After breakfast and any optional activity, check out and meet your safari driver-guide for the scenic drive back to Entebbe. The journey offers a final opportunity to enjoy Uganda’s beautiful countryside as you make your way towards the airport.
· Depending on your flight schedule and road conditions, you will arrive in Entebbe in the late afternoon or evening, allowing sufficient time for your onward flight.
· As your Ugandan adventure comes to an end, we sincerely thank you for choosing Breath of Savanna Safaris. We hope you leave Uganda with unforgettable memories of its incredible wildlife, breathtaking landscapes and, most importantly, your extraordinary encounter with the mountain gorillas.
· Drop off at your booked hotel in Entebbe or Entebbe International Airport for your flight back home. (3 hours prior check-in is required.)
